A gentler philosophy

Capturing the whole person; not a polished version

Listening comes first

Before a single word is written, there are conversations; unhurried ones; where your stories lead and we follow.

No wrong way to grieve

Everyone grieves differently. There is no single right way, and no wrong way. Your ceremony honours the way that is yours.

The whole person

Wins and accomplishments, relationships and stories, quirks and humanity and legacy; honest, never sugarcoated.

Nothing left unsaid

Families should leave a ceremony feeling their person was fully represented; and that the important things were finally said.

“An honest ceremony doesn't sugarcoat a life; it honours it, whole.”

How Rose & Raven began

It started with a stranger, sixty years of love, and a Christmas no celebrant could come.

Days before Christmas, Crystal saw a community post that stayed with her: an elderly gentleman had lost his wife of more than sixty years; and could not find a single celebrant available to honour her. She offered what she had: informal experience helping families celebrate lives well lived, a patient ear, and a way with words.

Over several conversations she listened to sixty years of stories. The ceremony she wrote moved the whole family; and revealed a calling built on empathy, deep listening, and the right words at the hardest time.

Included with every full ceremony

A customized memorial video, woven from your photographs and their story

Every personalized ceremony includes a keepsake video tribute; your family's photographs and film, set to music they loved, shaped into something you can return to whenever you miss them.

What a ceremony should leave behind

“
I just lost my lovely wife Suzie, of fifty eight years. Crystal wrote and officiated the service on a cold miserable rainy day. I couldn't have asked for a more poignant service. She got the essence of my Suzie. It was done very professional and as I had wanted. I would highly recommend Crystal for any type of service you might have. Crystal is a very caring and giving person.
